Radiology School Open House Gives Prospective Students A Taste Of The Program

The Middlesex Community College (MxCC) and Middlesex Hospital School of Radiologic Technology held its annual Open House on Monday, November 5, in the Bengtson Conference Room at Middlesex Hospital. The event is held every year during the second week of November in honor of the discovery of the x-ray by Professor Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen in 1895.

At the open house, first year students were able to show their friends and families the radiology department and share with them what they’re learning. Prospective students heard from the program director, faculty, and hospital staff, as well as current and past students, about what they should expect from the program and what kind of careers are available to them after completion of the Radiologic Technology Program.

The Radiologic Technology Program runs for 27 months, with classes beginning each June. Applications are due by March 1, 2008. Prerequisites and general education courses are completed at MxCC. All radiology courses are taught at Middlesex Hospital. The graduates receive an associate of science degree from MxCC and are eligible to sit for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists examination. After graduation, students can explore the many fields within radiologic technology or transfer their credits to the University of Hartford or Quinnipiac University, both of which hold articulation agreements with MxCC.
