Award Winning Poet to Read at MxCC

On Thursday, Oct. 25, 2007 at 12 p.m., Middlesex Community College will be honored to have Dr. Kim Bridgford present a poetry reading. Bridgeford has been chosen by The Connecticut Poetry Circuit to give a series of readings at  various Connecticut colleges.

Bridgford is the author of three books of poetry, Undone , nominated for the Pulitzer Prize; Instead of Maps, nominated for the PoetsĄŻ Prize; and In the Extreme:  Sonnets about World Records, winner of the Donald Justice Poetry Award.  Dr. Bridgford is particularly known for her work on the sonnet. She is working on a three-book poetry/photography project on Iceland , Venezuela , and Bhutan .

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Bridgford, a professor of English at Fairfield University, is the editor of Dogwood and the online womenĄŻs formalist magazine Mezzo Cammin. Dr. Bridgford was selected Connecticut Professor of the Year by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching and featured in The Connecticut Post and The New York Times.  She has twice been nominated for U.S. Professor of the Year distinction. Her doctoral degree is from the University of Illinois , and she holds an M.F.A. from the Iowa WritersĄŻ Workshop.

 

The poetry reading will be in the student lounge, Founders Hall, at the Middletown Campus, 100 Training Hill Road. The public is invited to this free poetry reading.
