Online Exams
The tool used for an online exam (quiz or test) in Blackboard is called Assessments. You can get to the Assessments from Course Tools menu. Before you take an online exam in Blackboard, be sure to close myCommNet window to avoid timeout messages. It is highly recommended that before you take an online exam, take the Sample Exam to test your computer. Some courses have Sample Exam listed in Assessments. If Sample Exam is not listed in your course Assessments, you may look for it at the MxCC-Virtual Campus site. You will enter the MxCC-Virtual Campus site from My Blackboard page.
1. On the Course Tools, click Assessments. You will see the list of quizzes, tests, or exams.
2. When an exam is available, the exam title is clickable. Click the exam title link. You will see the detailed information on this exam such as how long it takes to finish and when it is available. During the exam's available time period you will see Begin Assessment button.
3. When you are ready to take the exam, click the Begin Assessment button. In a timed exam, the clock starts running as soon as you click Begin Assessment, even if you log out of Blackboard or turn off your computer. So, after you have clicked on the Begin Assessment button, you need to complete your exam within its time limit.
4. Click Save Answer after each question you've answered. When you see a check mark underneath a question number, it indicates the answer to the question has been saved. You may answer the questions in any order. You may also change the answer and click Save Answer to update your new answer. Be sure to click Save Answer for every question you have answered.
5. After you have answered all the questions, click Finish. You will be prompted to confirm the submission of the exam. If you are all set, click OK to confirm. If you experience technical dfficulty during taking the exam (e.g. the answers are not saved, you lost Internet connection momentarily, or the exam window is mistakenly closed), you may close the web browser (or restart your computer) and log back on to your course and repeat the above steps to take the exam again by clicking Continue button.
