Pharmacy Technician Certificate Program   This program is offered in partnership with the Connecticut Pharmacists Association.

This comprehensive, 60-hour course prepares you for an entry-level position in a community, hospital, or long-term care setting. Topics include medical terminology specific to the pharmacy, reading and interpreting prescriptions, and defining drugs by generic and brand names. Learn dosage calculation, I.V. flow rates, drug compounding, and dose conversion.  Develop your knowledge of prescription dispensing, inventory control, billing, and insurance reimbursement.  This program is an excellent review for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) national certification exam (not included in the course fee). More information about the national certification exam is available online at the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board website.  Prerequisite: Proficiency in English, mathematics, and algebra as required to complete pharmaceutical calculations and directives, proof of high school diploma, or GED. *Note: Individuals convicted of a felony are not permitted to sit for the exam.
