This program offers students opportunities to integrate the world of computers, Internet, art and multimedia in completion of the certificate. It covers relevant areas of Web site construction, including designing and programming pages, developing multimedia content, as well as building and managing a Web site.

This program is designed for those who want to design and develop personal Web sites and also for the systems, publishing or business professionals who would like to understand the capabilities of this powerful technology and to use it to provide innovative solutions to business problems.

Courses from the Multimedia Certificate will transfer to the Associate Degree in Multimedia program.

Jobs You Can Get With A Multimedia Web Design & Development Certificate:

Most jobs available to those with a Multimedia Web Design and Development Certificate are entry-level multimedia positions, focusing on Web design. Some students may choose to become self-employed and freelance their skills.

Further study in Multimedia, Design and Computer Programming will allow the student to be more flexible in careers and find more opportunities. Some of the other careers available to a Multimedia major are: Animator, Web Designer, Audio Designer, Designer, Graphic Artist/Illustrator, Multimedia Developer, Operator, Multimedia Systems Analyst, Producer/Publisher, Programmer, Project Manager, Sound Technician/ Musician, and Video Technician.

How Long Will You Have To Go To School?

This is a 27-credit certificate that takes a full-time student about one year to complete.

Individual progress and requirements for additional course work may affect the time it takes for program completion. The certificate teaches the basic Web design and development skills and will not cover all of the aspects of Multimedia nor design. Students with no other college education should consider transferring to the Multimedia degree. The credits from this certificate will transfer into the Multimedia Degree.

Job Availability & Growth:

As technology changes and turnover occurs, new positions are constantly opening in the Multimedia field. Jobs are more available

in certain areas, mostly larger metropolitan locations. As the internet is booming and more and more people want websites
for personal or business use, web designers are in great need.

Many multimedia professionals choose to work as freelancers and are hired for specific jobs by companies. This type of career
takes time to build up and the freelancer is responsible for purchasing and maintaining his or her own equipment and benefits
that may be standard when working for a company, are not available to the freelancer.

Salary Information:

Median annual earnings of salaried multi-media artists and animators were $51,350, not including the earnings of the self employed.
