You’re creative and quick to learn. You prefer visual concepts, enjoy working on teams and solving problems. And, now you want to put your self-motivated style, good communication skills and curiosity to work in a career that’s fun and filled with opportunities for the future.

Targeted study earning certificates in Multimedia as well as Web Design at the same time as you work on your Associate Degree will give you a competitive edge for your future employment in a variety of fields, including animation, Web design, audio technology and even freelance work.

Jobs You Can Get With A Multimedia Certificate:

Most jobs available with a Multimedia Certificate are entry-level multimedia positions. Some students may choose to become self-employed and freelance their skills. After students complete a four-year degree in a more specialized area of study (animation, web-design, audio, etc.), higher level positions that may be available in the field include: Animator, Web Designer, Audio Designer, Designer, Graphic Artist/Illustrator, Multimedia Developer, Operator, Multimedia Systems Analyst, Producer/Publisher, Programmer, Project Manager, Sound Technician/ Musician, and Video Technician are some of the many jobs available to a Multimedia major.

How Long Will You Have To Go To School?

This is a 30-credit certificate that may take a full-time student who has to take no remedial courses one year to complete. The certificate should not be taken by a student who has no experience in design. It is only meant to teach the technical skills not design skills and is not recommended unless the student already has some sort of degree or experience.

A Certificate in Multimedia is broad and can’t cover all of the necessary skills to work in most positions, students should consider transferring to a four-year college or art school, which has specialized programs within Multimedia. Even without a 4-year degree, students should be aware that the constant changes in technology make it necessary to continuously learn new skills and applications. The credits from this certificate will transfer into the Multimedia Degree.

Job Availability & Growth:

As technology changes and turnover occurs, new positions are constantly opening in the Multimedia field. Jobs are more available in certain areas, mostly larger metropolitan locations.

Many multimedia professionals choose to work as freelancers and are hired for specific jobs by companies. This type of career takes time to build up a professional portfolio of work and the freelancer is responsible for purchasing and maintaining their own equipment to continue the evolution of their skills.

Salary Information:

Median annual earnings of salaried multi-media artists and animators were $51,350, not including the earnings of the self-employed.
