The Program
This track gives you a broad education in the liberal arts, as well
as the skills necessary to pursue a career in retail or wholesale
merchandising upon graduation. Students who have completed this program
may seek immediate employment or may transfer to a four-year school.
Academic Requirements
The Associate Degree in Marketing program at Middlesex Community
College typically takes full-time students two years to complete.
The
program curriculum is designed to provide a wide education in the
liberal arts, as well as the skills necessary to pursue a career in
retail or wholesale merchandising upon graduation. Students who have
completed this program may seek immediate employment or may transfer
their credits from MxCC to a four-year institution.
Jobs You Can Get With A Marketing Degree:
Students who graduate from MxCC with a Marketing degree can get any of the following jobs:
- Work in a non-managerial positions at a marketing firm, involved with creating marketing material, preparing marketing campaigns. Positions may include Assistant Manager or Assistant director.
- Work in a smaller organization that has it’s own marketing department creating internal publications, brochures, and other marketing material for the company.
- A career in retail or wholesale merchandising.
How Long Will You Have To Go To School?
This is a 2-year associates degree program. A student who enters the program needing no remedial level courses and who attends full-time may finish the degree in two years. Many students go onto 4-year schools to study Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Customer Service, Product Selling, and Distribution.
Job Availability & Growth:
Varies according to the chosen field. Most careers are in the higher-level medical and health-related fields.
Salary Information:
- Median annual earnings in May 2006 were $73,060 for advertising and promotions managers, $98,720 for marketing managers, $91,560 for sales managers, and $82,180 for public relations managers.
- Median annual earnings of wage and salary advertising and promotions managers in May 2006 in the advertising and related services industry were $97,540.
- Median annual earnings in the industries employing the largest numbers of marketing managers were:
- Computer systems design and related services $119,540
- Management of companies and enterprises 103,070
- Management, scientific, and technical consulting services 100,200
- Architectural, engineering, and related services 92,480
- Depository credit intermediation 91,420
